Bahi’chi CastañedaSchool Office Assistant

I joined NWSDHH during Summer 2023, and I feel lucky to be working somewhere that aligns so closely with my own values and with the support of such an incredible team of people.

I attended an interdisciplinary liberal arts college in Olympia and studied education with the goal of one day getting my credentials and teaching middle school-aged students. I was (and still am) particularly interested in literacy and creative nonfiction writing as tools for educational accessibility, empowerment, and self-advocacy. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work my administrative magic and make teachers’ lives easier here at NWSDHH.

In my free time, I enjoy frequenting coffee and thrift shops, writing experimental creative nonfiction poetry and short stories, and spending time with my partner and our two cats.
