Duztin Hord (He/Him)
Teacher of the Deaf
Teacher of the Deaf, 3rd & 4th Grades
I hold a degree in Deaf Studies and Interpreting, with a background that began in medical interpreting. My work eventually led me into educational interpreting, where I discovered a deep passion for working directly with students. That experience inspired me to further my education and become a Teacher for the Deaf. I went on to earn my Master’s degree in Deaf Education from Kent State University.
For the past 12 years, I have been teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, as well as those with diverse learning needs. My teaching experience spans both mainstream and specialized settings on the East Coast and in Arizona. Through it all, I’ve remained committed to creating accessible, inclusive, and language-rich environments where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Now, I’m excited to bring my experience and passion for Deaf education to Washington as I begin this next chapter in my teaching journey. I look forward to continuing to support and advocate for students and families in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. When I am not in the classroom, you can find me traveling, at a soccer game, or enjoying a concert with my husband, Roger, and our puppy, Morocho.
