HAPPY RETIREMENT MS. APPELMAN AND MRS. CALLAHAN!

The founding directors of NWSFHIC, Karen Appelman and Judy Callahan, set August 31, 2012 as their retirement date, after more than 30 years of ensuring the school’s success in its mission to provide the best education available for deaf and hard of hearing students, and creating a loving, supportive school community for parents, students, families and staff alike.  Appelman and Callahan will continue with the school in other roles as well as remain on the Board of Trustees.  Dr. Peggy Mayer, who has spent her career learning from and working with the dynamic Appelman-Callahan duo, will assume the duties of Head of School, as our beloved directors learn the meaning of “free time” for the first time in more than three decades.   Karen and Judy’s vision, dedication, tireless effort, and commitment to student success will forever be the heart of Northwest School.

“Thank you to NWSFHIC…without you and the dream of this school’s approach, our daughters, along with their graduating peers, those before them and those after, would not have excelled as they have.”
Ken & Kathi T., parents of two NWSFHIC graduates
