Welcome to Northwest School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children

Birth to Three

Children from birth to age three who are deaf or hard-of-hearing in King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties may enroll in services at no cost to the family. We work together with families to maximize each child’s natural ability for language acquisition using both Signing Exact English (S.E.E.) and spoken language.

Preschool to 8th Grade

Grounded in our highly effective teaching methods, we help children from preschool to 8th grade develop the communication skills they need. We provide the foundation for our students to thrive socially and academically – in the classroom, at home, on the playground and beyond.

S.E.E. Classes

Signing Exact English (S.E.E.) is a method of signing that allows all the parts of English to be seen and heard at the same time. Most S.E.E. signs are borrowed from American Sign Language (ASL) or are modified ASL signs. S.E.E. follows English closely, while ASL is a complete language of its own.
