June Pen (She/Her, Miss)

Paraeducator, Preschool/Pre-K

Hello! I am Miss Pen and I’m so excited to be joining NWSDHH this school year. I was born and raised in the Seattle area, then went to University of Wisconsin-Madison majoring in Plant Pathology. I moved back home and earned a Master of Education degree in Teaching & Curriculum at University of Washington. I recently began a Master of Arts degree in Special Education – Deaf and Hard of Hearing, working toward becoming a Teacher of the Deaf.

I have about a decade of experience in informal education, specifically in museums and outdoor settings. I would like to focus on getting to know students more long-term to provide them with more supportive and rich learning experiences, which is why I am transitioning toward the classroom and school setting.

Outside of work and school, I enjoy practicing Tae Kwon Do, spending time in nature, and writing poetry and fiction. I deeply value community, spending time with family and friends, and connecting with others to learn new perspectives.
